Simple Future Tense (Future Indefinite Tense)
It is sued to express an action which has not occurred yet and will occur after saying or in future.Uses of future simple/indefinite tense:
• It is used to predict a future event.
Example.
It will rain tomorrow.
• It is used (with I/we) to express a spontaneous decision.
Example.
I will pay for the tickets by credit card.
• It is used to express willingness.
Example.
I will do the washing-up. He will carry your bag for you.
• It is used to express unwillingness. (in the negative form)
Examples.
The baby will not eat his soup.
I will not leave until I have seen the manager.
• It is used to make an offer. (with I in the interrogative form)
Example.
Shall/Will I open the window?
• It is used to make a suggestion. (with we in the interrogative form)
Example.
Shall/Will we go to the cinema tonight?
• It is used to ask for advice or instructions. (with I in the interrogative form)
Example.
What shall/will I tell the boss about the money?
• It is used to give orders. (with you)
Example.
You will do exactly as I say.
• It is used to give an invitation. (with you)
Example.
Will you come to the birthday party?
• It is used to express promise.
Example.
I will clean up my room. I promise!
Sentence Structure of Simple Future Tense
Subject + will + 1st form of verb + Object.
Note: In modern English ‘will’ is preferred to ‘shall’. ‘Shall’ is mainly used with ‘I’ and ‘we’ to make an offer or suggestion with the other persons (you, he, she, they).
‘Shall’ is only used in literary or poetic situations.
Examples.
“With rings on her fingers and bells on the toes,
She shall have music whenever she goes.”
Simple Sentences:
She will go to the market
They will go to the market
He will visit his aunt’s home.
I will visit my aunt’s home.
It will rain in winter.
We will play a cricket match.
John will write a letter.
You will eat a burger.
Structure of negative sentence:
Subject + will + not + 1st form of verb + Object.
Negative sentences:
They/I/We/You will not Watch T.V.
He/She will not Speak French properly.
It will not Rain in Nepal daily.
Structure of interrogative sentence:
Will + Subject + 1st form of verb + Object?
Interrogative Sentences:
Will They/I/We/You Make a cake on Sunday?
Will He/She Take too much tea?
Will It Rain in Bhutan daily?
